Welcome to FICA, the international choral festival of Aveiro, Portugal.
Due to the worldwide pandemic, FICA’20 has been cancelled.
FICA aims to promote excellent choral music in addition to fostering relations between choirs. Open to all amateur choirs, FICA includes categories for choirs of difference voicings, including on a variety of styles (sacred music, gospel/pop/jazz, early music and music by living composers).
FICA'19 took place from October 31st until November 3rd in conjunction with the inaugural Hands-On Choral/Research Conference at the University of Aveiro.
The Hands-On Choral/Research Conference aimed to stimulate the discussion of ideas, practices, insights, outputs and developments in the field of artistic research and of choral music, as a specific area.
Hands-On Choral/Research combined artists’ and researchers’ knowledge, and featuring thematic conferences, presentations of projects, round table discussions, papers, lecture recitals and recitals.
FICA is an initiative of the Aveiro-based Coro Voz Nua - Associação Cultural. We invite you to join us, to discover the beautiful city of Aveiro, to hear an eclectic range of performances by a variety of choral ensembles, and to share in high quality music making.
